Outreach to Health Care Providers

Our Texas WIC Ambassador Program gives you the tools you need to ensure local health care providers (HCP) know all about the invaluable resources available to them and their patients through Texas WIC. Start by taking the online Texas WIC Ambassador Training Course. This course will explain how to connect with health care providers in your community. Then, schedule a presentation with health care providers in your area. Depending on your audience and setting, you have a choice between a customizable tablet presentation or a more structured PowerPoint deck.

Texas WIC Ambassador Program: Sharing Our Story with Local Health Care Providers

This short online course will teach you:

  • Why health care provider outreach is important for Texas WIC and our participants
  • How to connect with the right providers
  • How Texas WIC helps providers
  • How to successfully engage providers and schedule a meeting
  • How to use our simple yet high-impact presentation materials

Take the Texas WIC
Ambassador Training Course

HCP Presentation for Tablet

Use the tablet presentation when:

  • You are meeting with an individual or groups of three or fewer.
  • The setting is in-person and informal, such as a 10-minute discussion between seeing patients.
  • The providers are somewhat familiar with WIC lactation services, but need more targeted information and guidance.
  • You are conducting an introductory information-sharing session and seeking permission to provide a more formal presentation to an entire clinic of staff.

Tips for success:

  1. Be sure to take the Ambassador Training Course before meeting with providers.
  2. Save the presentation to your tablet and ensure it’s working without a wifi connection well in advance of your meeting. It is best to assume the office will not have a reliable internet connection and you will want to save the presentation for offline viewing.
  3. Be prepared. The tablet presentation is customizable but does not include speaker notes or videos. Understand your audience and organize the presentation to give them the information they need in the time you have to deliver it.

How to save the presentation to your Apple iPad or Android tablet

  • Go to the HCP Presentation.
  • Then follow the directions for your tablet’s operating system to make the presentation available for offline viewing.
  • Be sure to give the tablet a few minutes to download the data. There may or not be a status indicator for file size or download status.

HCP Presentation for PowerPoint

Use the PowerPoint presentation when:

  • You are meeting with groups of more than three providers.
  • The setting is either in-person or a video conference and is a scheduled event such as a 1-hour Zoom session with HCPs or a lunch-and-learn.
  • The providers are less familiar with WIC lactation services and require a broader explanation.

Tips for success:

  1. Be sure to take the Ambassador Training Course before meeting with providers.
  2. Save the presentation to your laptop and get familiar with it well in advance of your meeting.
